I sometimes forget what kids in middle school find funny. I stood in front of a group of 12 year olds this morning and pointed to Massachusetts on a map as part of a get-to-know-you game. I heard a good percent of the class snickering and I turned around to figure out what I had said that was funny. A few whispered under their breath, “Massage chaussette… héh, héh” and it occurred to me that my home state said with a French accent sounds distinctly like I were saying “sock massage.” I laughed too. Middle schoolers really are the same everywhere.
